Seit dieser Woche ist es also offiziell im IBM-System, dass wir nach China umziehen. Jetzt läuft die ganze Maschinerie richtig an und es erwarten uns wieder jede Menge organisatorische Aufgaben. Zum Glück sind viele der Daten und Dokumente von uns bereits im System vorhanden, denn die mussten wir ja letztes Jahr alle schon einreichen. Aber auch für China wird es wieder jede Menge Papierkram geben neben anderen wichtigen Dingen, wie z.B. spezielle medizinische Checkups. So muss jeder, der länger als ein Jahr in China leben möchte einen aktuellen HIV-Test vorlegen, eine Röntgenaufnahme der Lunge und ein EKG. Ich bin gespannt, ob das auch für die Kinder gibt, aber wahrscheinlich wird es so kommen. Heute haben wir aktuelle Passfotos machen lassen, die für alle anstehenden Formalitäten wie z.B. Visa- und Schulanträge notwendig sind. Gibt es hier in Indien sehr günstig, da kosten dann z.B. 84 Stück nur etwas über 10 Euro. Der nächste Schritt wird jetzt die Planung unseres Look & See Trips nach Beijing sein. Wir versuchen diesen auf die Diwalizeit hier in Indien (12. bis 14. November) zu legen. Dann sind Schulferien und hier beginnt sowieso die Feuerwerksschlacht in der Stadt. Voriges Jahr sind wir in die Berge um Munnar geflüchtet, denn im Gegensatz zum deutschen Silvesterabend ist das hier Wahnsinn. Da wird eine Woche geböllert was geht und selbst hier im Wohngebiet gibt es viele fanatische Zündler, die einem die Nachtruhe erschweren. Mal sehen ob es klappt und wenn nicht haben wir dann gleich eine gute Vorbereitung für das kommende chinesische Neujahrsfest. Darüber habe ich auch schon nette Berichte gelesen, da geht es dann einen ganzen Monat rund. Die erste Literatur zur Einstimmung auf unser Abenteuer ist bereits auf dem Weg hierher. Dank der netten Arbeitskollegen klappt es immer mit einer druckfrischen Amazonlieferung.

Aber auch die indische Post gibt sich Mühe. Es dauert zwar etwas länger als man gewohnt ist und der Zoll hat ebenfalls immer seine Finger mit im Spiel, dennoch scheint es mit der Snailmail von Deutschland aus zu funtkionieren. So kam die bereits lang ersehnte Mützenlieferung von Oma Dorli nach genau 17 Tagen hier bei uns an. Der Postbote kommt dann auch stilgerecht wie im Märchen mit Uniform und einem uralten Fahrrad beladen schwer mit Post. Nach einer zu leistenden Unterschrift über den Erhalt der wichtigen Sendung konnten wir die neuen Mützen gleich ausprobieren.

Nicht genug der Aufregung in dieser Woche. Seit Donnerstag trieb hier in der Nachbarschaft eine Schlange ihr Unwesen. Einige der Nachbarn hatten das very long and dangerous looking snake bereits mehrfach gesichtet. Gerüchte, es sei eine Kobra machten ebenfalls die Runde. Am Freitag klingelte dann einer der Fahrer bei uns, die Schlange wäre gerade in unserem Vorgarten in den Büschen verschwunden. Genaues Nachschauen meinerseits führte zu nichts. Auch die herbeigerufenen Gärtner und die Security konnten das Reptil trotz intensiver Suche ausgerüstet mit einem langen Stock nirgends entdecken.

Da die Schlange nicht gefunden wurde konnten wir erstmal nichts weiteres unternehmen außer Fenster und Türen geschlossen zu halten und ein Gartenbetretungsverbot für unsere Kinder aussprechen. Auch die Nachbarskinder, die gern unsere Schaukel benutzen wurden vorgewarnt. Die Inder hier sind jedenfalls alle sehr ängstlich und selbst Butter, unsere indische Katze scheint nicht auf Schlangensalat zu stehen. Sie wählte jetzt den Ausgang über unsere Dachterasse.
Heute morgen herrschte dann große Aufregung im Fahrerlager und die Erfolgsnachricht verbreitete sich wie ein Lauffeuer. Die Schlange ist gefangen, vorerst in einer Außentoilette zwei Häuser weiter die Straße hoch. Wir also die Kamera geschnappt um das Exemplar in Augenschein zu nehmen. Eine Kobra war es dann wohl doch nicht und die Fahrer wußten ebenfalls nicht, was für ein Schlangentyp sich jetzt im Klo befindet. Steffen wollte das Tier sehen, also stellte sich einer der Fahrer zur Verfügung, um die Tür zu öffnen. Nicht ohne einen langen Stock in der Hand. Die anderen ängstlichen Fahrer brachten sich auf der Gartenmauer in Sicherheit. Nur unsere Familie stand mit Kamera und Kindern direkt vor dem Klo, wohlbemerkt einem sehr dreckigen indischem Klo. Die arme Schlange wahr vom Duft darin wohl schon ganz benebelt, sie bewegte sich sehr langsam, als wir die Tür aufmachten. Lang war sie aber wirklich. Wer sich den Anblick ersparen möchte, schließt kurz die Augen scrollt einfach ein bisschen weiter.

Ein Schlangenfänger wurde gerufen und nach unserer Passfotoaktion war die Schlange bereits im Sack eingefangen. Das Einfangen hatten wir damit verpasst, aber ich bin sicher unser Fahrer kann uns am Montag die ganze Story erzählen. Ist bestimmt noch eine Woche lang Gesprächsthema hier. Der Fänger versprach diese sog. Ratsnake nicht zu töten sondern im Wald außerhalb wieder auszusetzen. Sie wäre wohl nicht giftig, allerdings sehr schnell, sie essen gern Squirrels und können bis zu 3 m lang werden. Jetzt wissen wir auch, warum in den letzten Tagen die Squirrels hier im Wohngebiet so heftige Alarmgeräusche von sich gegeben haben. Gute Schlangenvorwarner also.
